End of Culture Chat 2013

The end of the academic year is fast approaching, with only 4 more weeks left to go! Due to action packed timetables Culture Chat is ending for the current year. In six months we have learnt an incredible amount about the world and the people in it, all led by our own curiosity. As we close for this year, we've reached nearly six thousand views and over 30 countries! We've been written about in the media, been published in a magazine and recognised as outstanding global educationalists.

But, most importantly, we've had fun.

Culture Chat will be up and running again from 4th September 2013 and has a new site for the 2013/2014 year. This can be found at www.kdhculturechat2.blogspot.com (it is identical to this web address so very easy to find!).

We plan for Culture Chat to return to its original format of classroom based inquiry, led by children. We may have 2 Culture Chat sites running simultaneously, led by different classes. If you are interested in researching the impact Culture Chat has on our learning or if you want to join in with the project, please e-mail through the site.As before, the 'teaching diary' will be available on the site as well as the class' blog, questions and anything else that happens to weave its way into our learning.

We hope you join our journey in September, but until then,

Have a good summer!

Latest update from Ash class

Ash Class' most recent update has been put on to the 'Cultural learning' page.

I did not know the best coffee in the world was from Brazil and have never heard of, or seen, an Umbrella Bird before!

Well done St Mary's; keep up the fabulous research.

Research mission for May:
What is a carnival? What is a carnival in Brazil like?

Next topic...

Hi Culture Chatters,

This weekend see us heading into sunny May and our next topic. We will be exploring Brazil, as suggested by a member of Culture Chat Club...

To start us off, can anyone help answer these cultural questions?

  • How do people spend their leisure time in Brazil? What activities or interests are popular?

  • What is the Samba?

  • What do people eat as a snack in Brazil?
